FERRETS

by A.D

Ferrets are very fun animals to be with! Ferrets come in many colors such as dark brown, chocolate brown, albino, cinnamon, gray, and tan. There are only 2 types of ferrets in the whole world. They are called domestic ferrets and the black-footed ferrets. Domestic ferrets can be kept as pets because they are not endangered and are not rare. You can’t keep black-footed ferrets because they are endangered animals.

Very few ferrets have black around their eyes and black on their feet. These ferrets are called black-footed ferrets. The black-footed ferrets are very rare. That is why you can’t find them most of the time. Black-footed ferrets can live up to 10 years and grow up to 64cm long, including their tail. Most ferrets use their nose to find stuff far away, not their eyes, because they are nearsighted.

Ferrets love to eat a lot of different stuff. They eat prairie dogs, lettuce, rabbits, and rats. The ferret’s predators are foxes, coyotes, and sometimes prairie dogs. Ferrets are surrounded in dry western places, hot areas, and underground

Ferrets roam throughout much of the western part of North America including Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Most of the ferrets live underground. The way they attack their prey is to wait under ground and when a prairie dog comes, they jump out and attack.

I chose to learn about ferrets for my science report because they are really clever. They could run very fast and hide in good places. The funniest thing about a ferret is that sometimes they steal loose objects when nobody is looking. If somebody is looking they might quickly run and hide. They are very sneaky. I hope that I can one day have a ferret.
