The Poor Cat, by Cody, 5th grade

The Poor Cat
by Cody, 5th grade

I was walking to Jose’s house in Stone Creek. It was a freezing cold day; I could literally see my breath. I was wearing only a muscle shirt and shorts. I was about half way there when I thought to myself, “Man, I should have worn a coat.” My cheeks were burning because the wind was artic cold.

When I got home I grabbed a towel and some food and ran back to the cat. While I was running back I saw a sign on the green fence that said, “NO TRESPASSING.” So I went to Jose’s house and told him everything. Then I asked him if he would come and watch to see if anyone was coming.

That is when I looked around to see if anyone was there; nobody was so I jumped over the fence. I put the towel down on the cardboard and folded the corners in so it looked like a house. Then I put the food down in the towel and jumped back over the fence.

The next day I came back to see that the cat was eating the food, and cozily lying in the towel. I was very happy to help the cat.

Every now and then I would bring him more food. The cat is gone today but I hope whatever happened to him was something good.
