Famous American Research Report
By Gabrielle, 2nd grade
My famous American topic is Michelle Kwan. She was born in 1980 in Torrance, CA. She is the youngest of three children. She started to skate at the age of five. When she was six she won her first competition.
She has won four world championships—in 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2001. She also won two Olympic medals, a silver in 1998, and a bronze in 2002.
Michelle landed 6 triple jumps on her way to becoming the youngest champion ever at the 1993 U.S. Olympic festival. She was only 12 years old!
Michelle wrote her own biography. She is famous because she won medals at two different Olympics. Michelle won a bronze and a silver medal in the Olympics. She is still alive. She is 25.
I chose to research about her because I like skating. She is my favorite skater.
