Johnson bio

Ms. April Johnson (5th Grade Literacy Specialist)
Ms. Johnson currently teaches 5th grade literacy at Holm Elementary.  She has been teaching in the DPS since 1999.  Ms. Johnson came to Denver from Blacksburg, Virginia where she attended Virginia Tech.  While attending Virginia Tech she earned a degree in Business Management, Business Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  She feels that teaching comes from the heart.  Her belief is that by teaching with care, she is making a big difference in the community and a child’s life.
Ms. Johnson believes that all students should be proficient readers and writers.  In her class she focuses on both oral and written communication.  You will find her students reading and writing all different genres throughout the year and turning their work into published books, speeches or articles.  She has a passion for reading and writing; which is evident in her energetic teaching style.

She has four children who all attended Holm Elementary School in past years.  Ms. Johnson enjoys spending her free time with her children and friends.  In addition, she likes to read and write short stories.  Before leaving the website go check out some of her students’ published works.

La maestra Johnson hace clase a los quintos grados de literatura en la escuela elementaria Holm,  esta enseñando en DPS desde el ano 1999.La maestra Johnson vino a Denver de Blacksburg,Virginia donde estudió en la escuela Tech de Virginia, donde obtuvo el certificado de Business Management , Business Education y la maestria en Curriculum and Instruction.Su pasión de ser maestra viene desde muy profundo de su corazón.Sus creencias son que siendo maestra o mejor  dicho enseñando  hace una gran diferencia y ayuda a la comunidad y la vida de los ninos.
La maestra Johnson cree que todos los estudiantes deben de ser proficiente en la lectura y escritura.. En sus clases ella se enfoca en las dos areas las cuales son muy importante para la comunicacion.Usted puede encontrar estudiantes en la lectura y escritura en diferentes genero durante el ano haciendo sus trabajos en publicaciones de libros, articulos y exponiendo el trabajo.
Ella tiene mucha pasion por la lectura y escritura que es una de las razones para poder enseñar con mucha energia esas clases. Le gusta mucho escribir y leer cuentos cortos.
Tiene 4 hijos que atendieron la escuela elementaria de Holm. Ella en sus momentos libres esta con sus hijos y amigos.Vean en el website las publicaciones que hicieron de los estudiantes.
