"Mom, I Think Someone's Here"
by Tony Y.

On a sunny spring afternoon, my mother had told my sister, next-door neighbor, and me that she had to go to the store. She told us that she would be back in a few hours. My mother left my sister in charge.

After my mom left, the three of us went into my sister’s room and played with Barbies. “I love you James!” my sister said, playing with her dolls.

Then, I said, “Lizzie, let’s do something other than play with dolls. Let’s go outside and play or play video games.”

“Tony, Mom left me in charge, so you have to do what I tell you,” Lizzie explained. All of a sudden, the three of us heard boots hitting our kitchen floor.

“What was that?” Demi asked. Lizzie and I both shrugged. We heard it again.

“Was Dad or Jon wearing boots today?” Demi asked Lizzie. She shook her head. I quickly ran over to the door, shut it quietly, and locked it. We could hear it clearly now. Thump, thump, thump, thump.

“Ok, everyone j-ju-j-just stay c-calm. I’ll call Mom,” Lizzie told us.

Lizzie picked up the phone and heard another phone in the house being hung up. She had an exasperated look on her face. Lizzie whispered, “ Another phone just hung up.” Everyone gasped.

“Oh, honey. Don’t be ridiculous. How could someone get into the house?”

“Well I don’t know, but someone did!”

“Well, I’ll be home in a few. I’m at the cash register right now. I’ll see you when I get home. Bye!” concluded my mom. Crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeekk! The footsteps got closer and….

Someone tried to turn the knob. “Hey, guys! It’s me, Bobby-Ut! I was bringing Tony’s snowboard back. Colorado Ski and Golf just finished waxing it.”

“Thank God it was you, Bob,” said Demi, as I unlocked the door. Instead, the three of us noticed that this was no Uncle Bob! This was a kidnapper acting like Bob. How did he know my uncle’s name? How did he know I was a snowboarder?

This villain grabbed the three of us by the shoulders and whispered, “Shut up and act normal or I’ll slit your throats.” The villain threw us in his car and started driving…
