Abraham Lincoln High School has been awarded a 2024–2025 “Explore The Trades Skills Lab, Built by Ferguson” grant to establish a new plumbing lab on campus. This initiative, announced on National Skilled Trades Day (May 7, 2025), is part of a national effort to introduce students to high-demand careers in plumbing, HVAC, and electrical trades.
The grant provides $25,000 worth of equipment and materials to support hands-on learning in the skilled trades. Abraham Lincoln High School is one of ten schools selected nationwide for this year’s program, which aims to impact over 1,500 students across the country. The Skills Lab program, launched in 2021 by Explore The Trades in partnership with Ferguson, has now reached 35 schools in 17 states.
This grant aligns with Abraham Lincoln High School’s College and Career Academies, which offer students opportunities to earn college credit and gain career experience during high school. This exciting opportunity is thanks to the efforts of Mr. Steve Torres, who led the grant application process on behalf of the school. The new plumbing/electrical lab will provide students with practical skills and training, preparing them for successful careers in the skilled trades.
