Dear Holm families,
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Today at the start of the school day, a parent and her high school-aged daughter entered the school and pushed past a staff member to confront another parent who is pregnant. The confrontation became physical briefly before the first parent and her daughter left the building. At that point, we placed the school into a secure perimeter.
At no time were any of our students in imminent danger.
We were on a secure perimeter for about 15 minutes. A secure perimeter takes place when a threat has been identified outside of our school. All exterior doors are locked to prevent any hazards or threats to enter the school. No entry or exit to the school is allowed during this response, but activity inside the school continues as normal.
I want to thank our staff and everyone from the Department of Climate and Safety for their quick and thoughtful response, and timely action.
Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. DPS Administration Policy KFA states that no one should engage in “any conduct intended to obstruct, disrupt or interfere with teaching” while on school property.
This incident was substantially disruptive to the operation of our school and will be immediately addressed with those involved.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
April Jones and Shelly Dulsky
