Hello, and happy new year from the Library!
It’s a new year, and that means it’s time for Winter of Reading! Take on this adult reading challenge to explore the library’s services, find your next favorite book, and connect with other readers around Denver. Pick up an activity brochure at any DPL location between now and February 29th, complete any five activities, and trade in your brochure for a limited edition mug or scarf with pockets.
Hampden is having three events associated with this challenge. Decorate your own bookmark on Saturday, 1/13! This event is for all ages. Additionally, we’re hosting two book clubs at Comrade and Copper Kettle Brewing- learn more about books in our collection and get a discount on your order by showing your library card! This event is for ages 21 and over.
Along the theme of winter, we also are offering a 10th Mountain Division Lecture! On January 27th, the 10th Mountain Division Foundation Inc. will be teaching about how WW2 soldiers trained at Camp Hale and went on to create Colorado’s ski resort industry.
Read with a Therapy Dog will be on 1/20/24! Take the opportunity to meet a new furry friend and read them a book. A waiver is required and children must attend with an adult.
Many of our long standing programs are also resuming normal scheduling after the holiday break. Afterschool Homework Club will resume January 9th. Our Teen Advisory Board will have three meetings in January. Plaza, our English resource assistance and conversation group, will resume on January 10th. We hope to see you soon!

Es un nuevo año, lo que significa que ha llegado el momento del ¡Invierno de Lectura! Acepte este reto de lectura para adultos para explorar los servicios de la biblioteca, encontrar su próximo libro favorito y relacionarse con otros lectores de Denver. Recoja un folleto de actividades en cualquier sucursal de la biblioteca a partir de ahora y hasta el 29 de febrero, complete cinco actividades y canjee su folleto por una taza o una bufanda con bolsillos y de edición limitada.
La Biblioteca Hampden organizará tres eventos relacionados con este programa. El primero es el sábado 13 de enero, para todas las edades y se trata de decorar un separador de libros. Los otros dos son clubs de lectura en las cervecerías Comrade y Copper Kettle Brewing. Allí podrá aprender más sobre los libros de nuestra colección y además recibirá un descuento en su consumo mostrando su tarjeta de la biblioteca. Estos últimos dos eventos son para mayores de 21 años.
Con el tema del invierno, también ofrecemos una plática sobre la 10ª División de Montaña. El 27 de enero, la 10th Mountain Division Foundation Inc. enseñará cómo los soldados de la Segunda Guerra Mundial se entrenaron en Camp Hale lo cual impulsó la creación de la industria de esquí de Colorado.
También habrá una sesión de lectura con un perro de terapia el 20 de enero. Aproveche la oportunidad de conocer a un nuevo amiguito peludo y léale un libro. Es necesario firmar una exención de responsabilidad y los niños deben asistir acompañados de un adulto.
Muchos de nuestros programas habituales también vuelven a su horario regular tras las vacaciones. El club de tareas escolares (Afterschool Homework Club) regresa el 9 de enero. Nuestro Grupo de Asesoría de Adolescentes (TAB) celebrará tres reuniones en enero. Y Plaza, nuestro programa de recursos y grupo de conversación en inglés, se reanudará el 10 de enero. ¡Esperamos verle pronto!
